Professional Development Award (PDA): Supervision
This award is one option available to individuals who are required to attain a minimum of 15 credits at SCQF 7 in addition to the SVQ Health and Social Care Level 3 to meet the registration requirements for supervisors.
Entrance requirements are:
- SVQ HSC Level 3 or an equivalent qualification for registration with SSSC at Supervisor level
- Employment in a post requiring the post holder to register at the level of supervisor or above with the SSSC
Our comprehensive short course will meet the needs of individuals who wish to follow a taught programme in small seminar groups. The model of teaching particularly suits individuals who are not confident about returning to formal learning, as well as those who prefer small group learning and face to face support.
The taught programme is delivered through a series of seminars engaging the student with eight relevant topics over the course of 8 full days or 16 half day sessions.
The topics covered are as follows:
Person Centred Care, Person Centred Support & Person Centred Planning
Principles and functions of supervision Models and methods of supervision Roles in supervision and roles in managing resources Underpinning legislation, codes of practice, policies and procedures Risk and risk management, models of decision making Communication skills, communication systems and recording/reporting risks Team work in supervision and the supervisory role
We offer the Professional Development Award in Supervision at the following locations: Aberdeenshire, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Perth, Stirling, Dumfries, Thurso and the Borders.
